14 Nov Employee Spotlight – Garret Conover
Get to know Garret Conover, Shipping and Receiving Clerk at The Metalworking Group (MWG) for 7 years.
Q: “What do you do in your role?”
A: “As a Shipping and Receiving Clerk, I am responsible for pulling the correct parts required for an order and prepping the parts for safe shipment to our customers. A crucial part of my job is making sure the inventory is correct.”
Q: “What is the best part of your job?”
A: “The best part about my job is the independence I have. I never have someone looking over my shoulder or micromanaging me. I know my managers trust me to do my job well and I like the freedom and independence that it offers.”
Q: “What is your favorite thing about working at MWG?”
A: “I love that MWG feels like a family. People enjoy coming to work every day and working together. I think our culture starts with our management team and they do a great job of making everyone feel supported and appreciated.”
Q: “What has been your favorite project so far?”
A: “I love when I get to ship parts overseas. It is always an extra challenge for me to wrap it in an extra layer of protection for safe shipping, so it feels like an arts and crafts project in a way. It is cool to think the next person who will see the product could be across the world.”
Q: “What has been one of your proudest moments working at MWG?”
A: “I have been recognized as Employee of the Month twice during my seven years at MWG. I feel proud being recognized for my hard work and being appreciated for doing a good job.”
Q: “What do you enjoy doing in your free time?”
A: “Outside of MWG I am a part-time college student at Cincinnati State University where I study business management and real estate. That keeps me pretty busy, but when I’m not working at MWG or at school, I like to do outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and cycling.”
