11 Jan Employee Spotlight – Dylan Gray
Get to know Dylan Gray, Brake Press Operator at The Metalworking Group (MWG) for 7 months.
Q: “What do you do in your role?”
A: “I run a brake press machine that bends metal to make different parts for our customers. It requires me to have great attention to detail because I need exact measurements to make the part correctly.”
Q: “What’s the best part of your job?”
A: “This is my first job out of high school and I’ve learned so much within these seven months. I am constantly being trained and get to learn new skills that will help me develop my career which I really enjoy. I also like that this position allows me to be financially independent.”
Q: “What is your favorite thing about working at MWG?”
A: “MWG has very friendly employees who I get to work alongside every day. They are always willing to teach me a new skill or help when I have questions. Having supportive coworkers makes the company and my job really enjoyable. I also have flexibility in my schedule which allows me to work overtime.”
Q: “What has been your favorite project so far?”
A: “MWG was able to work with a large e-commerce retailer to make parts for chutes in their warehouses. It was cool to work on a project for such a huge company and to be a part of something that was bigger than myself. It really was a team effort and I’m proud of the work we completed.”
Q: “What has been one of your proudest moments working at MWG?”
A: “I was really proud when I wrote my first program on my brake press by myself. It was very daunting at first and it took me two months to learn, but I learned from my mistakes and felt very proud when I got it right.”
Q: “What do you enjoy doing in your free time?”
A: “I love spending time with family. Luckily, all of my family lives really close so we get to have family dinner together almost every night. I also like traveling and attending country concerts.”
