31 Aug Employee Spotlight – Jeff Isaia
Get to know Jeff Isaia, Lead for General Fabrication & Grinding Department at The Metalworking Group (MWG) for twenty-seven years.
Q: “What do you do in your role?”
A: “As the lead in the general fabrication and grinding department, I ensure all the machines are running smoothly by setting them up and checking the quality and maintenance. I also train all new operators in the department.”
Q: “What’s the best part of your job?”
A: “The best part of my job is working for a company that provides a steady job where I can live comfortably and provide for my family. I enjoy working in manufacturing like my father did and being able to create different parts. After 27 years I’m still learning something new every day, which I appreciate.”
Q: “What is your favorite thing about working at MWG?”
A: “No matter your title or how long you’ve worked here, everyone is treated with the same respect and professionalism. From management to the operators, everyone is friendly and professional. We have a really strong group of people working for us because of that mutual respect and professionalism, giving us pride in what we do.”
Q: “What has been your favorite project so far?”
A: “I like manufacturing metal parts for a product that makes a difference in the world. I contributed to a project where we manufactured metal boxes that were used in fire departments to help fight fires and keep the community safe, which was really cool.”
Q: “What has been one of your proudest moments working at MWG?”
A: “I’m proud that I work for a company that trusts me to lead and train a department. A lot of operators come in with little to no experience and I get to train them on specific machines and metalworking, allowing them to have confidence in their job and make an impact.”
Q: “What do you enjoy doing in your free time?”
A: “I have a lot of hobbies so I stay very busy outside of work. I was introduced to competitive paintball through a company outing and have loved the sport ever since, even playing in the world cup. I also have a passion for astronomy so I’m an active member in an astronomy club. If you don’t find me building telescopes or playing paintball, I’ll be riding my motorcycle, spending time with my wife of 33 years or my cat, Mookie.”
